Do you find yourself spending so much time taking care of other people's needs that your own needs are not met? Do you feel that you have lost your voice or never really had one? Do you have a persistent feeling of not being 'good enough'? Are you unclear about the direction of your life? I provide a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic space to explore the issues that are troubling you. I offer traditional talk therapy as well as art therapy. Art therapy can help with expressing and exploring feelings when words are not enough and can help with somatic issues. No art experience necessary! I am licensed in Connecticut, Maine and Ohio. I view the therapeutic process as a journey - accompanying you on your unique path, listening deeply; supporting you in ways that address your specific needs. I have worked with children, teens, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, chronic pain and illnesses, trauma and sexual abuse. I work in a holistic way and where appropriate, draw on other modalities (art therapy, meditation, breathing techniques) to facilitate the expression of feelings or to work with somatic experiences. These modalities can enhance self-awareness and self-exploration, and open doors to different ways to learn about oneself.

I specialize in Borderline personality disorder, PTSD/Trauma, and co-occurring challenges. My scope of practice includes LGBTQ+ concerns, couples (nonmonogamy), and mood disorders. A desire to change is often forged in hardships that are overwhelming, painful, and cause suffering. It can be a difficult path to navigate alone. A therapeutic relationship based on trust, open communication, respect, and empathy is fundamental to overcoming struggles. Whether it is during a transition, an acute stressor, or severe mental illness, I provide a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment for youth, adults, families, and couples. Recognizing that many of these challenges often co-occur, my approach includes building a solid foundation to restore healthy functioning, while simultaneously promoting growth and lasting change. Together, we will achieve wellness utilizing a holistic framework that encompasses cognitive, behavioral and neuropsychotherapy interventions. My education and experience have centered on trauma, disordered personalities, gender identity challenges, child and domestic violence. I have 25 years of experience in social services and working with diverse populations. I have worked extensively with juvenile and adult court systems, law enforcement agencies, schools, and cultural and community programs.

Life is filled with surprises and challenges. Sometimes it can seem overwhelming. Talking to a professional can help you and those you care about find new options. I have experience working with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, family problems, couples' problems, life transitions, questions of sexual and gender identity, and concerns related to health issues, death, and dying. I take a goal-oriented, active, client-centered approach, focusing on the potential that each person has for growth and change. My practice draws from many years of experience and from training in a wide range of fields. The result is that I am able to offer my clients first-hand expertise from a variety of perspectives, including my own research. Group work can be an addition to other counseling, or a stand-alone. Many people prefer going to a group rather than having their own personal sessions. I offer a variety of groups on different topics. Please see my website for details.
